Tribute to Ken Brewer
former Utah Poet
Laureate
March 23, 2007 |
Tribute and Open Mic at Mondo Cafe
This evening was dedicated to the
late Dr. Ken Brewer, former Utah Poet Laureate. Deborah Hughes
presented a mosaic of the teacher's work, old and
new. She read some of his published poetry along with some
some of Dr. Brewer's last poems, which he wrote as a chronicle of
his experience with terminal cancer. Deborah is a former student;
she considered him a friend and mentor.
After Deborah's
presentation and reading, and a break, an open mic session allowed
others to speak about Ken and to read their favorite Ken
Brewer poems. This event was free and open to the public.

3rd Annual Cowboy
Poetry Event

and is scheduled over President's Day weekend in February. The
festivities were well-attended by locals and out-of-towners
